Full Sessions

Planning

Once you decide that you would like to schedule a session, we'll start the ball rolling on timing, attire, location, etc etc.  I currently only take one full session each month due to the limited time I have to edit as I'm a full time mom first and foremost to two littles, which means it's good to book early.  We'll begin by setting up an appointment at my home in Lynden - and by appointment, I really mean a coffee and chit-chat and try on dresses and perhaps bring your kiddos to play with my kiddos sort of visit.  I like to have my stylist, Laurel Bosman of NW Hair Design, present as well when possible so she can brainstorm ideas for your hair and makeup for the session.  Come prepared to try on dresses.  I have several gowns that range in colors, styles and sizes; we'll be looking to pick out two or three different ones for your special day.  If you decide that you would like a new gown for your session, I will discount your session by the cost of the gown providing we agree on what you're getting and I retain it as part of your payment.  The majority of my gowns come from Sew Trendy Accessories and can be purchased with a discount through here.  As part of our planning, expect to start looking at shoot dates and locations.  One of the benefits of only taking on one full session each month is that it gives us flexibility for your date.  We'll address what to bring, what to wear (including undergarments), and more small details in relation to the shoot.

Shooting

Your photo session should take place around 30-34 weeks.  Plan on a full day.  It usually takes 3 hours for hair and make-up, about 2 hours of shooting and then travel time.  That means you should plan on bringing snacks and water so you don't get hungry.  While I'm on a shoot I tend to forget about things like food and bathroom breaks, so be sure to let me know what you need when you need.  Most of the gowns are long enough that I find my clients can wear comfortable shoes (yes, I've shot a client wearing Uggs in a gown and you'd never know!).  If at any time you need to take a break, we will.  If you're uncomfortable, let me know.  Need to elevate your feet for a bit?  No problem.  I want this to be relaxing and fun, and especially don't want you to go into labor!

After your session

Due to the style of my images, I typically require 4-5 weeks to edit your session and aim for 30-40 final images.  Your pictures are delivered digitally through an online, password protected gallery where you can share and download your images.  You're under no obligation to purchase prints through me, however you'll be more satisfied with the quality, color, and longevity of the professional prints.  Not all printers are alike and I've found very poor color quality with many of the publicly accessible printers.   If you do choose to print through me, load up your shopping cart with what you like.  I'll be notified when you go to check out and complete the order with you offline so that we ensure you get exactly what you want and need.

Thursday Morning Mini's

For 2018 I've decided to add a new option for those that don't have the time or means for a full session.  Mini's can only take place on Thursday mornings between 9:30 and 11:30 - while my oldest is in preschool.   There is no prior planning for these; expect to come to my home where you will be able to choose one gown and have Laurel Bosman of NW Hair Design do your hair and make-up (approx one hour).  Once ready, we'll head to a location within the Lynden area for a 20 minute shoot.  Afterwards, it usually takes me 1-2 weeks to edit your session and I aim to deliver 10-20 images.  As with all my sessions, images will be delivered digitally through an online, password protected gallery where you can share and download your images.  You are under no obligation to purchase prints through me, however you'll be more satisfied with the quality, color and longevity of the professional prints.  Not all printing places are alike.  Many of the easily accessible ones print on low quality papers and can produce products where the colors in your images are very wrong or the image has been cropped without your consent.  I can help you with your ordering process through your online gallery to ensure you are getting just what you need and anticipate.
